Project Highlight: Harris County Processing Center, Texas

Harris County Joint Inmate Processing CenterIn 2016, the detention division of Montgomery Technology Systems, LLC (MTS) was asked to step up and rescue the Harris County, Texas Joint Processing Center project. This project was directly affected by the collapse of a prominent Detention Equipment Contractor (DEC), and the bonding company for the project sought out a reputable contractor to quickly step in and finish the project.

Stepping into this active project was no small task. For one, the project had a short time line that was getting tighter with every day. Second, this was no small project. While the facility is just an intake facility, it is a 696 bed facility with around $3.5M in detention equipment work, including 214 detention openings, 7,000 sq. ft. of security glass, 276 double bunks, 144 single bunks, 70 dayroom tables, 10 pistol lockers, 17,000 sq. ft. of security ceilings, and 2,500 sq. ft. of security mesh.

Even with all of the complications of coming in late to an active contract, the seasoned MTS Detention team stepped right in to work with the Construction Manager, Clark Construction, and the architect, PGAL Architects, to provide a smooth and timely delivery. Despite all of the setbacks and contractual hurtles, MTS Detention still managed to complete the project on time.
